My favorite manifestation of this is people who hate Hayden Christensen but will cut Miss Portman infinite slack. Guys! She was even worse than he was and she ruined half again as much of your childhood!
She made me root for them to cut off Anne Boleyn's head. I don't even remember the point of her character in V for Vendetta, but Guy Fawkes was a traitor and that movie was awful. She was no more or less infuriating than anyone else in Garden State, but since that was compounded entirely of self-satisfied nerd tropes of a particularly irritating kind, that's not saying much. She was actually the most hateful person in Closer, which is saying a lot.
So you're saying it's not her fault she's only in annoying films, and she's a good actress.
Is she? Is she really? I'm not sure she is. She's just pretty. Which is nice and all, but does not justify the posturing or the adoration. Lots of people are attractive. But Orlando Bloom can't get work any more, and Mr. Christensen's résumé isn't growing impressively, so why, oh why, is Natalie Portman so universally beloved?
PS Also, as a friend points out, she has weird alien ears.

I'm sorry for saying this,but I have to say that Natalie Portman is a true "BITCH" just like her friend Julia Roberts,I have seen her 3 times in the last 7 years and in each of the them she never give the chance to the fans to have a picture with her,she "only" give some "autographs" to "some fans" and only in one of "HER" movie premieres,"Not"in other premieres,and when she is on the street or on the airport she "always" look down,just like her fellow "The Queen" Julia Roberts.This is really bad,can you imagine what would happen if she win an Oscar?PS:Not even Tom Cruise,Will Smith or Meryl Streep
So I have never seen V for Vendetta all the way through, because after I get upset about their fascist symbol being the Cross of Lorraine, I lose interest and fall asleep...
And, yes, most of her movies are awful and I want to buy her some chapstick, in case her annoying lisp is just because her lips are too dry to open her mouth all the way.

people who think she changed her last name, she didn't, she's just using her grandmothers maiden name "portman", to protect her family privacy, and I'm guessing majority of the comments that are haters are just jealous women.....
Couldn't agree more. The only person more annoying is Julia Roberts, but at least most people can agree on that. I sincerely don't understand the infatuation with Natalie Portman. I mean...she's not even that hot. Jennifer Connelly's WAY hotter...hell even Angelina Jolie's hotter! Even with the butt lips! Portman doesn't look BAD...just plain...which doesn't warrant choosing good appearance over acting since there wasn't much to begin with.
